About our Preschool Program
The Foundation YMCA's Whirl & Wonder Preschool provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children learn, grow, and discover through play. Inspired by the creativity and spirit of Downtown Wilson, our program encourages children to explore the world around them while building the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills that prepare them for future success.
Our experienced and caring staff create meaningful learning experiences through hands-on activities, music, movement, storytelling, creative arts, outdoor play, and age-appropriate early learning experiences. Guided by the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Program Schedule
Toddler Program (Ages 1–2) - Tuesday & Thursday | 8:30 am -11:30 am
Designed for our youngest learners, this program focuses on exploration, sensory play, language development, social interaction, and building confidence in a warm and supportive setting. Children must be walking independently to participate.
Preschool Program (Ages 3–4) - Monday, Wednesday & Friday | 8:30 am -11:30am
Our preschool program prepares children for kindergarten through play-based learning, early literacy and math activities, science exploration, creative expression, and opportunities to build friendships and independence. Children enrolled in this program must be fully potty trained. **Children in this age group can participate in our Foundation Kids aftercare program for an additional fee.
